  • 2 points for two years of professional experience with prior vocational training within the past five years, being under age 35 at the time of application, or holding a B1 German certificate.
  • 1 point for being under age 40 at application time, having previously stayed in Germany for at least six months (excluding tourism), possessing C1 English and A2 German language skills, training in an occupation with a shortage in Germany, or applying together with a spouse.

Applicants can apply for the Opportunity Card at the German consulate in their home country or at their local Foreigners’ Registration Office (Ausländerbehörde) in Germany.
